Very Shoddily Constructed ItemJan 02, 2009
By J.A.M. This bicycle is a huge disappointment. The name Schwinn used to mean something.
1. I got 10% off in the store because there were chips in the paint in several places.
2. In the sunlight, the front of the bike is painted a very different shade of red than the rest of the bike.
3. The chrome plating is knicked up and rough around the edges, very poorly done. It could cut you if not careful.
4. The name plate on the front has a big ding in it as if somebody tried to hammer it flat onto the curved surface with a hammer.
5. The decals are crooked and scrunched up.
6. The brackets holding the rear fender are so thin that if you barely tap the fender with your fingertip, it wobbles back and forth.
7. The spokes of the front wheel are totally out of alignment and as you roll you can see it wobbling side to side as if it's going to come flying off of the bloody bike. I wonder what it will cost to have this done?
8. I've not found number 8 yet, but I've only been on it once so far, and will have to have it taken apart and repaired before I can ride it again. But watch this space.
The MADE IN CHINA sticker said it all. I hear they're turning out shoddily made scooters as well and are working on a shoddily made car to market in the near future.
Buyer beware and shame on Schwinn.

Spiffy RideOct 07, 2010

Bought this bike today from Target fully assembled. I pulled it out of my trunk and went for a 14 mile ride on a local path. It was FABULOUS! I sailed along with ease and was able to take hills like nothing. Smooth ride, nice soft seat and had no problems with the coaster brakes.
I have had a 10 speed bike, 5 speed, mountain type bike and as a kid, a bike like this one. It is so nice to not to ride hunched over.
It it charming, sturdy and extra spiffy in red, white and chrome with WHITE WALL tires!

Buy this product at the storeMay 06, 2010

When it arrived at my house the fenders were so beat up I had to take it to a bike shop for repairs. It could not be put together the way it arrived because the fender was dented so bad that it rubbed the wheel. So, after time and $40.00 bucks for a bike shop, the bike is together.
Also, I am 5'10" (34 inch inseam), this bike is hard to ride. The peddles seem to be to far back. Almost like you are peddling behind you. This bike was built for shorter people.

Hey! It does its jobMay 28, 2009

I bought this bike in March from [...]. The bike came out of the box with strange yellow/orange stains on the paint job, and the steel plate in the front had a huge dent in it (as if it were hammered flat). We were missing a few nuts/bolts for to attach the plates as well. The front tire appears to be wobbling, but I believe the tire itself is flawed or crooked. I don't know how, but the back reflector under the seat broke off, and now the seat wobbles as well.
However, with all that said, the bike rides beautifully, and it is the best looking bike on campus. I get compliments ever single time I ride it! I love my bike; flaws and all!
Old School Biking FunSep 17, 2011
By T. Schroeder I bought this bike already put together at Target, so I had no problems with missing or dented pieces. I did have to pull the chain guard out a little bit so it didn't hit the chain when I rode, but after that it rode beautifully. I am 5'3, and I think it fits me fine. It is hard to get up hills, but you should expect a workout if you are buying an old school bike with no gears. I like the challenge. It is very comfortable, and I get excited every time I have to run an errand close by. I rode about 8 miles on it today, and it makes people smile because I think many people remember owning a bike similar to this. For the price, I don't think it can be beat. I'm sorry for those whose bike arrived in bad condition because this is a wonderful bike once assembled.
