Insta-bed Went Insta-deadAug 09, 2007
By R. Simmons I bought this because of the concept which I had not seen before. I also took notice to the "anti-deflate" system it claimed to have.
The first one I bought....yes, I said the "first" one inflated nicely, was very comfortable and the adjustable head and feet feature worked great.
The next morning, the entire lower portion of the bed was almost entirely flat. We thought, well maybe it's stretching...so we inflated it again..the next day it was flat....we immediately ordered and received a replacement.
The replacement bed was delivered in less than a week and we were very happy with speed of replacement and we got a new one!!! This one was a dud as well, but with this one....the top portion of the air mattress went flat the next day instead of the bottom portion.
All the while, we keep looking at the box that promotes it's "anti-deflating system".....I guess mine didn't come with one.
It's a great concept, east to use and very comfortable, but it wouldn't hold it's air. It's very possible that I received two defective ones, but what are the chances?

Great Product Great PriceJul 20, 2007
By M. Sewell I purchased this for my grandmother who suffers constant pain with regular beds. She nows has great nights of sleep. I was concerned that her weight which is over 200 lbs would be a problem. Man this bed performs. I have never written one of these reviews and to be honest I hesistated after reading negative reviews. What realize now is that disatisfied people are much more likely to write something and the many more satisfied customers have moved on to enjoy their purchase. This bed is worth every penny and performs exactly as described.

Very Impressive, With One FlawAug 09, 2007

I bought this Wenzel Airbed a couple of weeks ago for a not-exactly-roughing-it camping trip to Maine, so I have four days of experience on it, shared with my wife. We had a great trip, and the mattress, for the most part, was outstanding.
The inclining head-end of the mattress and elevating foot-end were two things I wasn't sure about when I ordered it, but it made the trip just a little more special because it allowed my wife and I to relax and converse more before sleeping and after waking. It was also something that had the rest of my family comment that our little tent -- which barely fit the mattress -- was actually the Ritz Carleton. I have to say, it was really cool!
I had nothing to complain about the firmness; another reviewer had mentioned that the firmness wasn't enough to keep the person from sliding toward the middle of the bed. The firmness of our bed is great, however, the other reviewer's complaint is the one complaint I have about the mattress, too - if there are two people in the bed, the tendency is (as which happens to many (if not most) airbeds) that the sleepers are on a slope to the middle of the bed. When I was on the bed by myself, it didn't matter; the bed would be ever-so-slightly like a hammock. But with two people, it was as if there was a gravity well in the middle that pulled us both in a v-shape towards each other. We had to adjust by sleeping at slight-angles.
A less-major complaint is that the inflation process, while very quick, is a little louder than I'd like it, but I can live with that just fine.
The remote is great, with controls for the head, the feet, a quick firmness-reduction button if you want the bed to be a tad softer, and the main inflation button. Very handy and easy to figure out, even in the dark.
I thought that the construction of the unit was extremely sturdy. I liked the "napped" surface which helped the sheets stay secure, even when raising and lowering the head or feet. We had the thing inflating within a few minutes of unpacking the box, and the sachel to store the bed, which deflated almost as quickly, is handy and functional.
Overall, I'm very happy with the Wenzel Airbed, and I would certainly recommend it. It is a tad pricey, and if not for the lean-to-the-middle sensation, it would be just about perfect.

So Far, no complaints!!!Sep 21, 2007
By Conscientious shopper I bought this bed not for camping, but actually for use during"Movie Nights"! I have had 6 back surgeries and a neck surgery with fusion which also included a hip operation. We are young (not seniors), and every time we wanted to watch a movie (since I have a problem with prolonged sitting we would have to retreat to the bedroom. We have used it 3 times...have put it up in our great room to watch a movie on the plasma HD tv. I have also fallen asleep on it which is a miracle since I am in such constant pain, it is difficult for me to sleep. I know it says it stretches and may need more inflation...we haven't had this problem and we are definitely not small people. No rolling to the center or any of the other problems others have described. We are extremely pleased thus far, and hope we don't encounter any problems in the future. My husband is thrilled since now he can watch all "his shows" on the "good" TV. A wonderful bed and we highly recommend it based on our 3 uses!!!!

Don't waste your money!Sep 15, 2007
By Regular Consumer The concept is great but until they perfect (or at the very least improve) the design and whatever the problem is with the inflation, don't waste your money. The bed never fully inflates to a firm touch. It sags in the middle before you even get in. Once you're in, the bed billows around you. I didn't think much about the bed losing air the first night as the instruction say, "it stretches, etc." However, after five nights of having to add air throughout the night, it's time to return the bed! Apparently the sagging and air loss problems are common. Read the other reviews.
