5Great wedge for a bikeJul 02, 2010
I purchased a wedge with my bike from the bikestore that wasn't anywhere as nice as this one for over $25. When I found this on I Amazon I immediatly sent the other wedge packing back to the store! The wedge is not overly huge, but I love the fact the tool kit is built in with foam to keep the tools from moving around and clanking during riding. The lower compartment is generous with a weather cover and it is expandable. The only item I would criticize if I had to choose something was that I wish the tool pack was in the lower compartment as I always unzip the wrong compartment. A single fold mens wallet fits, but it is very tight but I am knocking the product for that becasue the wallet size is my choice!

Great price, easy to detach and durable!

5Organize lots of stuff, easy access, quick releaseJul 01, 2010
This Topeak pack is great, because it has two separate compartments--one for essential tools; the other has plenty of room for a few more tools, some small parts, a tube, map, wallet, and cell phone; and, by removing the rain cover, effectively, a small third compartment becomes available for useful items. Plus, it's even easier to remove and reattach than Cannondale's T-clamp (mentioned below). The material is durable enough, I expect to get more than 15 years use before it starts to wear. Because I haven't had it long enough, I haven't experienced the breaking fixer problem so many report (at Amazon and elsewhere). I decided to buy it anyway because 1) the pack and fixer are both excellent designs, 2) the breakable fixer is its one and only flaw, imo, and 3) I can buy replacement fixers and keep one in the bag. HOWEVER, I must say that Topeak really ought to resolve this problem reported by so many! If nothing else, they could use metal for the fixer. Considering all the stuff I carry in this pack, the extra weight, if any, from metal would be insignificant. Considering the price of the pack, I suspect added manufacturing cost, if any, would also be insignificant.

Purchased 5/2010, this Topeak pack replaced a similarly designed Cannondale underseat pack I've used since 1992. The Cannondale had a quick release T-clamp for mounting under the seat--very convenient, and in 18 years of heavy use, in all weather, road & off-road vibration, the original T-clamp never broke. Maybe Topeak could use the same material for their fixer?

When the Cannondale pack started to wear-out a few years ago, all I could find were packs that attached with Velcro straps--even Cannondale thought this was an improvement for their current packs. But not for me, because I only take this pack on long rides when tools, spare tube, patches, etc. might be needed; otherwise, riding (and parking) around town just means another thing to remove so it won't be stolen by those !@#$%^&*() type of people. But even on long rides, I might park the bike while getting something to eat (or a cold beer), so easy removal and reattachment was important enough to me that I kept using the worn-out Cannondale pack for years until I discovered Topeak's pack.

I think Topeak's fixer attachment is a substantial improvement over the T-Clamp and superior to Velcro straps. So, it seems to me, especially given Topeak provides this fixer with many of their products, they could perfect this good idea by using a material that will last for a few decades, at least....

Sending suggestions to Topeak is really difficult, because they have no contact info on their site [...]. They have a parent company site [...] where you create an account and then open a trouble ticket. I'm going to use the ticket to express my thoughts above to improve the fixer.

5Perfect all in oneJun 27, 2010
Bought this because I had to walk 3 miles home when I was stranded. Well haven't needed the tools for changing a tire yet, but the screwdriver kit, allen wrench set and chain link remover all seem durable. Plenty of room left over for my cell phone and wallet. I'm happy with this purchase. It's nice the tools don't jostle around when you're really pumping up those hills.

4Great, creative productMay 29, 2010
I love the seperation of the tools and the molded padding to keep them all in place. It makes it so much more convenient, it also means you don't have to take up room in the main pack with a jumble of bulkly and awkwardly shaped tools.

The main compartment itself is large enough to hold an extra tube, a cell phone, a set of keys, the rain cover it comes with, and potentially one or two other items roughly the size of a cell phone. Or maybe two tubes and a cell phone, removing the rain cover would also gain you a little bit more storage space. There are also elastic straps on the bottom that you could secure something to.

As for the fixer, I haven't had this all that long but I really can't see how this would break. It seems to be pretty durable and thick plastic, if it breaks on me i'll be sure to update this and let people know. But for now I feel pretty confident about it.

For the zipper problem that others reported, I took this to heart and found a solution pretty quickly. There is a small fabric loop right between the two zippers, I took an extra twist tie i had around the house and ran it through this loop and both zippers so I shouldn't have to worry about it opening up. It may be a little inconvenient to take stuff in and out but it's worth the piece of mind knowing you stuff will stay. I took one star off because it seems to me they could have easily addressed this by stitching a piece of velcro or something accross the two zippers. Heck for a penny more they could have just included a twist tie or one of those nice reusable/releasable zip ties.

1Good in Theory!!!May 14, 2010
I purchased this bike bag a few months ago along with a few friends. We quickly noticed issues with the zipper in the tool part of the bag. When riding moderately technical trails we noticed that each of our bags half way through the ride started dumping tools. So everytime we stopped you'd have to zip the bag up as the zipper would start to creep open. At this point, we've all lost about half our tools and the bag is now a running joke between us all. I would not buy this bag unless you are doing road or very lite trail riding. I engaged Topeak since we all had this problem and figured it was a known issue and got the response of "Thats a bit strange. I have never heard this issue before." with no action taken so far. So on top of the issue with the bag, questionable customer service by the manufacturer.
