awesome sleeping padMay 09, 2011
By Jack E. Biederman
"Jack"
This pad is 25 inches wide and 48 inches long. Weighs 1 pound.
I recently used it on an overnight camping trip. Placed it on top of another pad (Astro Ultralight Camping Foam Mat full length, .25 inches thick, weighs 4 ounces) and the NeoAir Trekker pad kept me super comfortable all night. I am a side sleeper and only inflated the pad enough to keep my hip off the ground. A side benefit to not inflating fully is that I can leave it inflated in the tent and kneel on the pad without worrying about stressing it. The Trekker model does not have a noticeable "crinkel" sound when moving around on it.
Note: I strongly recommend getting an "Instaflator" for inflating any small air mattress. From previous mattresses I have owned, after "a few" times of inflating a mattress by mouth, I just don't want to get my mouth near it any more. Ick. Amazon has sold the Instaflator in the past, not sure why they are no longer selling them.
A stuff sack is included with the NeoAir Trekker and is a bit larger than it needs to be. The bag still feels a bit large even when the mattress is rolled up with an Instaflator inside.
I enjoyed the extra width of the Large Torso model, which allowed me to lay on my back and have both arms rest on the pad at my sides. My feet don't easily get cold, and I don't mind the NeoAir Trekker Large Torso pad not extending below my knees. The other pad took care of insulating my feet nicely and provided a measure of protection for the NeoAir Trekker, although the NeoAir Trekker seems to have a pretty tough texture on it and probably does not need the help.
The NeoAir Trekker did not move around the tent at night, and I did not roll off of it.
The inflation valve on the NeoAir Trekker was easy to use and did not leak at all.
With an r-value of only 2, it worked fine with the secondary pad (link above) when temps were around 42 degrees at night. I am confident it will work fine at temperatures much lower than that. The sleeping bag I was using was a super-inexpensive Suisse Sport Adult Adventurer Mummy Ultra-Compactable Sleeping Bag that weighs only 3 pounds. I am 6'1" and 200 pounds. At 42 degrees, wearing fleece and socks, I was able to leave the bag unzipped most of the night. I attribute much that warmth to the combination of the two mats, so I cannot positively confirm the warmth of using a NeoAir Trekker if it were to be used alone.
The NeoAir Trekker is an excellent piece of gear and makes for a restful night of sleep. I could not be happier with this purchase.

new design, still has pin leak problemOct 31, 2011
By musicmonster While i love the support the horizontal design provides, the durability of this thing still sucks. It lasted 4 months before a leak developed, about as long as the previous yellow version, and detecting the leak was just as elusive and pointless as well. No rock punctures (tarp under the mat and under the tent) and its not a matter of excessive humidity as i use a garbage bag to inflate and top off with a puff or two. And still considering that these things have this flaw, no repair kit included! at least with the foam types you are left with some resemblance of cushioning when they deflate as opposed the bone chilling alarm clock the neo air trekkers provide on failure. unless you have an rei membership where you can perpetually return for a new one, do NOT BUY.

perfect for backpackingSep 28, 2011
By dmb3428 I purchased the 20x72 neotrekker and I also have a thermarest trail lite sleeping pad the same size. First off I really like the weight and size when you pack this sleeping pad down, small and light weight! It took me about 2minutes to blow the pad up, the pad is rectangle shape and is not tapered like the trail lite model. Comfort for the trekker I would rate 4 out 5, trail lite I rate at 3.5 out of 5.
The material the pad is made out of slightly heavier than the neoair( lighter weight green model) which is the primary reason I picked the trekker instead, Ive read many complaints about the neoair popping the air chambers and leaking air. The trekker only weighs like 4oz more than the orignal neoair, IMO I would rather have a stronger-longer lasting pad. One thing for sure though your going to have to be careful with this model still, dont plan on throwing this down on a bunch of sharp rocks and expect it to last...It can easily be punchured so as with any air mattress careful handling is needed. The r-value with this pad should be good for 3-seasons so if you use it in winter you might need an extra barrier between you and the ground-such as the z-lite closed cell pad.... I havent had the pad long but hope it lasts many years, so far I am extremely happy with it.

super light compact and ruggedAug 15, 2011
By Jon Was not expecting how great this pad really is. I used it on an overnight to test it out before my upcoming week long trek in Colorado. Comes with stuff sack. I got the Large torso model by mistake but it was super compact a little larger than a nalgene bottle and super light but gave a lot of comfort. I camped up above Brighton and Alta Ski resorts and it gave me plenty of insulation from the ground(august). Even with the temperatures getting below 40 degrees it made my sleep nice and comfy. I like it better than the neoair as it feels much more rugged and does not make potato chip crinkly noises like the other models. I would recommend it to anyone need a super small and comfy pad for hiking or any other lounging. Don't blame me but it would easily fit inside of a desk drawer for those emergency power naps as well and would not be loud. Going to get 2 more real soon.

soft touchJul 01, 2011
By noplea I recently began tent camping again in conjunction with a new found interest in bike touring. Unfortunately I discovered that age made sleeping on the ground not quite the fun experience I remembered. I began a search for the best mat and after a few false starts wound up with the large trekker. Although it certainly is not like sleeping at home it does make sleeping in the wild almost pleasant. When coupled with a packable pillow I can expect to enjoy a decent nights sleep when I crawl into my tent. I recommend this mat to anyone facing a night on the ground in the woods. Be advised however it is not self inflating and you must be prepared to invest about five minutes in blowing the thing up before using.
