5Best Tent Buy on the Market!Jan 03, 2010
By Bob God "Bob God"
Just for a little background info, I've been an avid camper for more than fifty years, was a professional outfitter for nearly two decades, managed a camping store, worked a a guide in the Florida Keys and Everglades for a a total of more than twenty-five years and one of my college degrees is in parks and recreation management.

With all of that in mind, this is the single best deal in a three season family camping tent on the market; no exceptions.

It is not intended as a base camp for arctic explorers. For summer trips, however, and even for mild springtime and fall trips, this tent is easy to pack and even easier to set up.

The windows on all three sides and in the door, together with the skylight style roof vent keep you cool and the interior height of six feet allows you to stand up straight and stretch your legs. The rain fly is simple and easy to attach and doesn't block the view from any of the windows or door.

These features combine to make this tent equal to or better than many tents that sell for up to and over three hundred dollars.

While I always encourage people to do some comparison shopping before investing in camping gear, I'm sure that after having done so most people will come back to the TexSport 9' square dome unless they're simply put off by the camouflage motif.

5Terrific Comfort in Terrible WeatherAug 11, 2009
By Kathy A. Hughes
I lived in this tent for the better part of three unseasonably cold and wet summer weeks in Maine. I stayed dry (for the most part) in spite of heavy rains lasting up to eight hours and one severe thunderstorm that lit up the tent's walls like a strobe light. I'll take the blame for any problems: the door was on the (slightly) uphill side, so some water dripped in through the bottom of the door zipper, but only after hours of continuous rain. During the thunderstorm, maybe a dozen drops blew in, not enough to wet the bottom of a shot glass. It was fine in the wind, but I would say that this is a three season tent.

The bug netting is fine, and for the price of one night in a motel, the tent owes me nothing. I outfitted it with boxsprings and a matress from a twin bed and a sturdy table/bench, leaving me plenty of room to stand and change clothes.

I love this tent!

4Texsport Camouflage Headquarters Square Dome TentMay 15, 2009

This is the second tent of this kind that I have owned. The first one lasted me for a good 6 to 8 years and I camp about 4 to 5 times a year.

Overall this is a very nice tent. It's quite roomy. You can sleep 4 on the ground but if you use a cot then only 2. You can get 3 in on a cot but it's very tight quarters. The height is tall enough for me to stand-up (I'm 5'10). So it is nice when you have to change clothes.

There is a small hook that hangs down in the center. It's nice for hanging a small battery lamp for a night light.

For day use, you can roll-up the front entry flap and secure it with a elastic loop that is sown into the tent. In the back you can unzip the secondary flap to create a window.

Set-up is not difficult. One person can do it but easier with two. With practice, it can be set up in about 10~15 min.

The material from the last tent held up quite well. What did the last tent in was that the zipper gave out and the mosquito screen got torn up. (Keep Velcro hooks away from it) As for the rest of the tent, it never tore.

Also, the bag that you store the tent in was a little tight. You basically had to pack the tent the way it came from the factory to get it to fit. The best way to do it is to fold the tent to the length of the pole bag. Put the pole bag on one end of the folded tent, then roll up the tent like an old style sleeping bag. When you're done the tent will be wrapped around the pole bag tightly. Now it will fit in the bag. You can put the pole bag in the tent case first then try to stuff the tent in but its harder to do.

I would have given this tent a 5 star rating if the zipper and mosquito would have held up longer. The rest of the tent would have lasted many more years if it wasn't for that. Otherwise it's a great tent.

1cheaply made tentNov 16, 2010

I purchased this tent for an elk hunt here in arizona in november after setting up in yard i didn't see any problems got out into woods and five of the clips broke that hold the tent to the poles this was only the second time the tent was set up the tent held up to light rain and flapped quite a bit in winds over 30 mph it was a little bit over ventilated the screen on top of the tent and the rainfly design allow the wind to get under and you can feel the cold breeze its hard to heat with propane burner because the heat readily escapes if ventilation is needed for propane appliances you could always crack a window i don't think the mesh top is needed.not recommended

3Gets the job doneMay 17, 2010

Big enough for 2 people and their bags - but no more than that. Keeps you dry, has lots of windows which is nice. EASY to set up! But the quality is not stellar. Lots of little strings hanging from all the seams, which get caught on zippers and make in and out of the tent a pain - especially in the middle of the night! The mesh for the windows and door get pulled very easy, so it look cheap, although it hasn't ripped through yet. Used it twice so far, having gotten it as a gift for my boyfriend. As a gift, not great, should have spent a little more. To buy for myself would have been more adequate.
