Very Sturdy UnitJan 23, 2008

This cot rocks. I'm a big guy, 6'2" and weigh 265lbs., and I needed something very durable and portable. This was just what I needed. There is plenty of room on the bed for getting comfortable and stretching out. The frame is rock solid and there is barely any rocking to the frame when getting in and out of it. You can easily have two people sleep in this bed if you don't mind sleeping close together, this cot definitely holds up to the challenge. I purchased a bed roll and put it on top of this and it is very comfortable to sleep on. The frame is completely assembled all you have to do is pull it out of the bag, unfold it and snap the two end rails in place. The only drawback I see, and the reason for the four stars, is that the end rails can unhook if someone is pulling up on them. It seems like there should be a locking mechanism or something, but it doesn't seem to be a huge concern for regular use. I will say this bed is much too big and heavy to carry around for hiking, you can use it for camping if you can park close to the site. Works great for an extra bed around the house if your tired of repairing inflatable mattresses. The higher price might turn a few people off but I think for the quality it's worth it. I don't like things that break easily or feel cheap and this cot has a solid feel to it.

Sturdy cotApr 05, 2008
By Carrie We purchased two of these for camping and are very pleased. This cot is awesome! First of all it's HUGE! Larger than a twin mattress (in fact a twin fitted sheet is too small). Secondly it's very sturdy; I have three young boys and they couldn't wait to bounce/jump/crawl all over it. It appears as though it will take years of abuse (this is good) and won't buckle under pressure. Thirdly, it sets up in no time. Just be sure to secure alternate corners and the rest snaps into place. We are extremely satisfied and can't wait to use it camping..if New Hampshire ever thaws out!

EXTRA WIDE!Jun 14, 2008
By Katy S. We love these cots! We have always used regular sized cots but they never allowed for much movement or comfort. When I discovered this cot I read the reviews and got 2. They were build very strong, and sturdy. They are very wide and so roomy! It's a very comfortable fit. I have a back injury and was still able to be comfortable on this cot. A+++ cot. Be sure to check out your tent's size though, these are BIG cots. But what they take up in space makes up for comfort! You can store a lot of gear below them too!

Great cot.....Feb 23, 2010
By Katherine I am a woman of size who loves to camp. I had been doing the air mattress thing for a long time because it is easy to pack in and out but you have to have electricity for pumps, or batteries (which tend to run out of juice when you least expect it) and then there is the sag or the *gasp* hole! So I decided to get a cot. I purchased another brand first and it was horrible. So I returned it and got this cot and am very pleased.
Pro's 1. It is very roomy. There was room to toss and turn and since I'm only 5'7 I had plenty of room to unpack my clothes at the end of the bed and not worry about it. 2. Firm. It didn't sag BUT there was enough give that it wasn't like sleeping on concrete. 3. Definite air flow for comfort in warmer weather, however, in colder weather not so great so do look into getting a nice mat for the cold weather. 4. Plenty of storage under the cot for the cooler, bags of supplies etc. 5. No creaking!!!!!!!
Cons 1. For a woman with admitted limited upper arm strength it was difficult to put the end bars in UNTIL my brother showed me a trick with a hammer (which you'll need for stakes anyways!)and leverage against the cot. I just slipped the hammer's handle through the hole between the body of the cot and the end bar then pulled the end bar toward me and it popped right in! Easy peazy! 2. HEAVY. I guess if you are making a product for heavy people it needs to be heavy but trust me...if you have to walk this sucker in you're going to regret it. Luckily I pretty much go to places I can drive my car in. 3. Holds moisture. Yeah, if you sweat or build up body heat in a cold area you're going to get some moisture on the cot but just remember to wipe down with a towel and you'll be ok. 4. Can be difficult to get out of. But any cot is going to have this and you'll learn your own personal comfort technique.
Over all I would have to say that this was a very good purchase. I am now currently looking for another tent and I am going to say straight up that it will need to fit my cot! If you are tired of the mats, air mattresses, sleeping on the ground then get one of these cots!
(ps setting it up I couldn't help think of scenes from M*A*S*H and various cot hilarity. )

Really BIG Cot!!!Jan 31, 2010
By Waldo ...I am in my mid-60's and still love to camp, but due to a replacement-hip and several damaged disks in my spine, sleeping on the ground in a tent is no longer a comfortable option for me, so for the last decade I have slept in my Dodge-Minivan on a regular mattress...But this has worn out, so I decided to upgrade...
...I wanted a cot, but didnt like the small, creaky, uncomfortable cots carried in most stores, so went online and found a GInormous one that had good reviews, and the manufacturer also made a sleeping-bag in the same size...40 x 85..
...I bought both, and coupled them with a 2" memory-foam pad which I sandwiched between the bag and cot with an old quilt, holding that combo in place with light elastic cords....
..I am just sorry I did not do this years earlier!..This cot is HUGE!!!...It is very comfortable, very sturdy, heavy, well-made, with heavy-duty legs and frame and canvas!
...I would agree with all the other who commented on this product...but to really truly appreciate the size of this cot you must try to visualize a twin-sized bed!
...This thing is SO big it is probably eligible for it's own zip code?!
...It has a very sturdy feel when you lay down in it...with no creaks, and is rock-solid with no movement in any direction...and overall the craftsmanship looks solid and of good-quality materials... and this cot compares nicely with the other lesser cots on the market at a modest price making it good-value for your bucks!
...I have slept in it once, and I am extremely happy and satisfied with this cot so far!...I can move around in various positions without making contact with the side rails, and at over 7-feet in length, neither my arms or feet were hanging over the ends, and it did not sag much at all, so I was impressed!...Obviously, only repeated use and time will tell how well it holds up and performs in the long run, but I have slept on many cots over the years..and have Never found one so sturdy and Huge at a reasonable price to boot!
...This cot also comes with a very sturdy and well-made carry-sack that has handles and straps for transport...but it is fairly heavy...but if you are vehicle or tent camping, the weight is hardly a factor...
...Many other reviews have mentioned how difficult it is to assemble the first time, and I would agree...it is great exercise!..but this is a by-product of the unusually sturdy construction...and I would rather struggle a little to put it up as a more than fair trade for it performing as well as it does overall...And when I assembled it again several times...it was easier to do...or else I am stronger because of it?!...LOL!..
...The only weak point in the whole cot seems to be the nylon tabs that the end rails slide onto...But considering how well the rest of it is made, I doubt the manufacturer cheaped out on this critical piece, as a lot of good engineering went into the overall design of this sleeping cot...
...Aside from that, I am Very pleased with this product, and would gladly recommend it and the manufacturer at any time!...The cot arrived well-packed and boxed, and in a short time after I placed the order....and I cant wait to go out and do some serious camping with it!
...Also, if you are interested in this product, take a good hard look at the accompanying sleeping bag to make a terrific combo!...It is also from the same manufacturer, and is their Teton Sports Celcius XL 0-Degree Sleeping Bag, which I have also reviewed on this site...I love this combo!...
