A great tent, lots of great featuresAug 24, 2010

Suisse Sport Montana 14 x 10 screen porch tent
I had not heard much about the brand on Suisse Sport. So I set it up to check it out before camping. (a pleasant surprise)
I was comparing this tent to the Columbia Cougar Flats II and the Eureka Copper Canyon both are about 33% more money than this tent and similar in size and style. I liked the screen area better and saw the poles were pretty weak on the Eureka and even though the Cougar flats is bigger it has less usable room because it slopes more like a dome tent.
First impression, I opened the box and saw it has a zipper storage bag.
PROS: The total weight is just under 30lbs, the frame is quality 19mm steel poles with larger fiberglass pole. The shape of this tent has almost vertical walls which gives you maximum space. 87" high ceilings so it doesn't seem like you are in a cave I like all the sizes of this tent. The big window on the screen side gives you a nice place to keep your gear at night or while you take a hike or dip in the lake.
I like to have some airflow in a tent and this one has 4 window and 7 vents, we never plan on camping in the rain, so that is another reason we picked this tent it has a 1000mm coated fly in a rainstorm it would surely keep you dry.
Sleeping specs: it shows 5, so really 3-4 + you could do 2 on the room side and 2 kids in the screened area and be really comfortable.
It came with 6 steel pegs and 7 plastic pegs they look decent, I usually use the spike style pegs which are easily ordered on Amazon, 10" Galvanized-Steel Tent Pegs - Set of 10 TIP: if you order them online they will save you from the local camp store pricing!
Final analysis: Color is good, dark on bottom to protect from dirt nice earth tones on the sides no crazy camp colors! Easy to set up with a quality storage bag.
I will modify this review if things change but at a savings of 33% over the other tents this was a great Fishgriller deal!
I hope you find this review helpful...

What You Need to Know If this Tent is Right for You.Nov 22, 2011
By J. Payne

I purchased this tent last year for Bonnaroo (A 4 day music festival in TN). I took the time after reading the other reviews to set up the tent beforehand to make sure everything worked accordingly. One reviewer stated he tried to set it up with his 12 year old daughter and ended up breaking a pole. That is one key issue right there. You MUST have 2 full grown adults. The taller the better. My room mate and I, each just under 6 foot set up the entire tent in about 30minutes. Some parts however were very difficult. The poles on each corner cross over the center to form an 'X', like on many other tents. The thing is, since the angle of the wall is so extreme, meaning it stands completely upright when erect. You have to have enough strength to lift up the poles at the same time across from each other. It's not so much heavy as it is awkward, but with 2 adults, it can be done. The MOST difficult part comes when trying to put the pin from the base of the tent into the pole crossing half way through the tent. This is, as I mentioned extremely difficult, and I would say, perhaps a downfall of this tent's construction. It is however possible.
Once you get the tent up, however, it is a pure JOY! As I mentioned before, I took this to a 4 day music festival, and lived out of this tent and my car. I was able to fit a queen sized air mattress, an XX-Large Coleman Cooler, and a 5' table all in the Bedroom. In the patio area I put down a tarp, and placed astroturf over top as I heard it may rain. I was then able to fit a Camp Table on one side with benches and a 6' inflatable sofa on the other side. The big windows gave me plenty of room to ventilate the tent on the hot june days. There is also an electrical outlet whole in the living area where you can run an extension cord to your car/generator to power any devices you need. We did have a bit of rain, and the tent stayed perfectly dry. The tent was so sturdy, I was even able to place our 'tent marker' on top of our tent. (You understand the importance of a tent marker if you've ever been to one of these festivals.) Mine was a 6' inflatable birthday cake for my two friends Shannon & Christian. I will try to post a picture of this for you.
In summary, let me tell you the type of person who SHOULD & SHOULD NOT buy this tent.
People who SHOULD: -Adults who plan on camping with at least ONE other Adult to ease in set up. (At least one of these adults need to be fairly strong to secure the middle pole) -Individuals camping in a mild to hot climate. -Individuals with pets. You can bring them into the patio area if it rains without having to worry about them damaging the tent. -Individuals who have set up tents before. This is not a good 'starter' tent.
People who SHOULD NOT: -People who are going to the beach, or desert. Creepy crawlies can come in under the patio walls. A cricket or grasshopper is no big deal, but a scorpion or snake is another story. -Kids (if they are expected to set it up themselves) -Shorter people (unless you want to try and balance on a couple ladders. awkward.)
I know I have said a lot of negative things about this tent, but they are only things to take into consideration. You know what you are comfortable with in the end. This tent does take a little bit of extra time to set up, but when you have it done it's like having your own little apartment outside. I got hundreds...literally hundreds of compliments on it at Bonnaroo. You can't mistake this for any other tent, and the open feeling and breeziness it gives you makes the extra bit of time, and possibly frustration worthwhile.
Lastly, when I bought this tent 1 year ago, it was about $160. This is a GREAT deal! If you fall into the categories I have listed to buy it, I strongly recommend you give it a shot!
Happy Camping!

Tent with a porch? really?May 30, 2011
By kaylabean Ive never reviewed items i have bought from amazon before, and believe me when i say i do alot of shopping on amazon. This tent has all the features that my boyfriend and i were looking for...he is 6'1 and can stand nicely in it and change without having to bend akwardly. Also, we wanted a tent that we wouldnt have to constantly walk across the area where we were sleeping. We have room for a queen air bed, our dogs bed and still room to put things and walk around 2 sides of the bed. Sometimes we even make a makeshift table and watch movies on a portable dvd player out in the woods, and still have room! With all that said...that is just using the sleeping area.
I am a mosquito magnet. I love camping and the outdoors but no amount of repellent can keep them off me. We LOVE the fact that we can set up a table and cooler in the porch area while he cooks on the grill just on the outside of the tent. Yet we dont feel seperated and can enjoy conversation just like cooking at home together. He grills while the dog and I set up and do the prep for dinner.
Another bonus for us is that there are plenty of windows and doors and it allows alot of air flow. My boyfriend is one of the rare humans that has a HIGH avg body temperature, therefore air movement is key for him so he doesnt over heat. At night they close up to keep just the right amount of heat in.
Did I mention how nice it is to have the mesh on top up so high? On clear nights we can lay and look at the stars, yet still have our privacy from any nosey neighbors.
The only thing I have against this tent as that it doesnt come with the best directions. Make sure you read carefully and follow them to a key, otherwise you literally cannot set up the tent. The front goes up first then the back then the sides. Its imperative you do them in that order!
I would not trade this tent for the anything. I could not be happier with my purchase, and cant wait to use it in the years to come. :0)

Huge TentAug 29, 2011
By Kelsey Jean
"~Kelsey~"
I was very surprised by how large this was when I received it. Absolutely love the mesh ceiling and large "windows" on every wall. Who ever thought to include a screened in porch onto a tent, was a genius, you can't control nature, aka mosquitoes, but you can enjoy nature and fresh air inside this screen in porch without worrying about too many bugs. My ONLY complaint was that since it is so tall, if you are in an open area and it is windy, be careful, that's what happened to mine, it blew "over" and one of the main poles snapped and the bottom tarp scraped, we had to send it back, we would have gotten a replacement if our camping trip wasn't in less than a week, so we had to borrow a smaller one from relatives. Would have much preferred to have this one on our trip, my itchy mosquito bitten arms would have to agree as well.

Big! Value! Kept us DryJul 11, 2011
By Scott This thing is huge. Get a tarp to put underneath it as the screened area has no floor. It rained every day during a recent week's use and everything and everybody stayed dry. Even the screened area stayed dry (with some very minor seepage on the tarp/floor (could have stopped it by tinkering with the tarp/floor but leakage was so minor it wasn't worth tinkering with). Lots of windows and ventilation. Sleeping area held one queen size inflatable mattress plus one twin size inflatable mattress. Screen porch held 3 full size folding chairs with plenty of room to spare -- probably could have fit 5 chairs. Could quibble about the materials but won't do so at this price. Total bargain. Totally satisfied. Set-up is a two person job.
