Adequate, with Not So Great InstructionsJul 16, 2009
By Sir Charles Panther
"Life is hard. It's harder when you're stupid."
Can you believe it, REI was out of shock cord and tent pole replacement kits, so I ordered this one online. Surprisingly, it took over a week to get to me, to my mind far too long.
The contents are just fine, and worked just right, once I figured it all out, though. The instructions say to tape the shock cord to the metal wire to thread it through the tent pole sections. I tried Scotch tape, duct tape and masking tape, and the problems were twofold: 1) the tape section was too big to fit through the tentpole sections, and: 2) the tape wouldn't hold the wire and shock cord together.
So, eventually I just bent over double about 1/4" of the stiff wire, with a small section of the shock cord pinched in it. This entered the tentpole with no problems, and after struggling with the tape solution for over an hour, with my approach I had my tentpole fixed in about five minutes.
Bottom line: this product is fine, as none of its constitutent parts failed. The instructions didn't work for me, but I found a workaround that sorted out my problem just fine.

Kind of weak....Sep 12, 2009

The shock-cord in one of my tent pole is broken. I find repair kit in local store but the length of the shock-cord is only 15 feet. I need something longer. So, I purchase this shock-cord repair kit from Texsport.
Pro:
1. It's long...45 feet.
2. It comes with a 30" long steel wire to ease the installation.
3. It comes with 6 securing washers.
4. Easy installation.
Con:
1. The shock-cord is kind of thin and weak. I hope it can be stronger.
In summary, even though the shock-cord is weak, it's still better than buying a brand new tent. Recommended.

Shock Cord RepairDec 17, 2010
By Larry237 I used this kit to replace the worn shock cord in shooting support sticks. It has a lot (45 ft. +) of cord and the cord is similar in size and strength to the original cord. I didn't have to use the wire to pull the cord through the sections, they slid easily through each one. It just took a few minutes and I have enough cord left to repair these sticks or several tent poles. New shooting support bipods cost $50+ so using these saved money. A good purchase.

Exactly what I needed!!Jun 28, 2011
By Lady I purchased this product to repair the elastic cord on my tent poles. My husband told me to just buy another tent, but I knew there had to be another less expensive way. It was perfect for what I needed. The only reason Im giving it a 4 star is because the directions and useless wire. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME!! I spent an hour trying it there way, and got no where. I strung it in by hand and it took 30 minutes.
