I've had my smoker for over 10 years and it has traveled with me throughout that time while I've been in the military. It has worked exceptionally well everywhere I've used it whether in Oregon, Japan, or Okinawa. Frieds rave about the smoked salmon. The construction of this smoker has held up very well and the fact that it is all aluminum has prevented it from rusting away, unlike the three barbeque grills I've had to throw away in the same period.

I had owned a combination smoker. It was a stainless steal tower that had a propane burner in the bottom and a disk for charcoal above that and a water tray and a pair of steel meat racks above all of the burner stuff. It is a nice unit. It is not a smoker unit. It was sold as a smoker unit. You could not control the temp enough to slow cook or smoke a piece of meat slowly without a lot of supervision. I mean a lot of supervision. The temp would go up and down. What I love about the Big Chief is that it is a smoker. I can put any product in it I want to smoke and not worry about over cooking. I smoke hams, turkey etc in the Big Chief and then bring them into the kitchen oven to bake. I have control. I control the amount of smoke, I control the baking.
The Big Chief has been very predictable for jerky and for sausages. We are getting spoiled by the summer sausage done in the Big Chief.
I would guess that anyone reading this testimonial has spent some bucks on cookers and so called smokers. I tell you this is the real deal. It works. It is priced under all the others. You will be thrilled with the control you have to smoke foods.

have been using this product for over 25 years and it is excellant. I have all the models they make and you can't ask for a better item for getting a nice smoke ring in your meat. It is exactly what it says a smoker not a cooker. My family just raves about the smoked product it turns out exspecially the smoked cheese. The customer service department at smokehouse is more than willing to help you with any questions that you have. No matter whom I talk to it seems they have all used the product and have a lot of knowledge. More than willing to help you in any way. As with any cooking item it is important to follow the manufactures instructions use on a non combustible service away from a building.
