4Almost Lives Up to Its PRApr 12, 2008

I'm a longtime devotee of the glorified sneakers known these days as hiking boots, though this product represents my first experience with Propet. I actually had not heard of this company before but they earned my notice with their reasonable prices. And this "CliffWalker Athletic Boot" is certainly a great deal for the price and will probably please most consumers. The design is sharp and no-nonsense, and so far I've had no reason to doubt that the shoe is truly waterproof and solidly built. The leather is especially supple and flexible. Like with any shoe, I experienced some sore spots and discomfort in a few places in the first few days, but the shoe adjusted itself to my foot quicker than just about any shoe I've ever owned. The design also works for all types of terrain, and there is no trouble at all with serious rugged hiking.

But I do have some concerns with the way the company has described the shoe, with proclamations of greatness for any situation. I find the shoe a little heavy and stiff for regular everyday urban walking. Another issue is the finish, because if you have a color that is not natural for leather (mine are black) the finish gets scuffed up immediately. No big deal really, though you may then have an issue with wearing the shoe in all situations, as recommended by the company. I'm also a bit perplexed by the so-called "self-cleaning" design of the sole, which is heavily promoted but under-elaborated in the company's literature. Apparently the design of the sole prevents muck from building up in the grooves and preserves your traction. This appears to work for basic clumpy mud, but for slimier stuff (don't ask) my experience suggests otherwise. In the end, Propet has created a fine hiking shoe for a reasonable price that will satisfy knowledgeable consumers. The company just needs to avoid overstating everything that the shoe can do. 5Great hiking boots!Nov 28, 2010

In addition to being of excellent quality, performing great on the trails, this boot relieves my chronic foot problems by holding my foot firmly when walking. I have chronic plantar and joint problems in the big toe and metatarsal joints of my right foot. Wearing this boot minimizes those problems.

5great medic's boots!Oct 17, 2009

After years of hard use, my feet need extra special care. The cliffwalker is comparatively light for a boot of this style. Being waterproof, they protect me from biological contamination. Whether in a dress uniform or conducting SAR ops, these shoes definatly protect me from all the punishment life dishes out and look good. D. F. Nationaly Registered Emergency Medical Tecnician.

4Can't Wait to get the right sizeJun 09, 2011
By Teacher by day - manual laborer at night
I got the shoe a couple of weeks ago. It appeared to be a well-constructed, quality shoe. However, it was too big. I generally wear a size 8. I sent it back for a size 7.5.... I hope it will fit. Other than being too big, it felt quite comfortable when I tried it on.

I realize this isn't a very helpful review... it would be better if I reviewed this a year from now to report on how it held up... but Amazon prompted my review today.... Maybe I can add an update in a few months.

5Propet boot worksAug 10, 2010

This is a heavier duty of their Alpine boot. Leather cleans up easily.
Great ankle support. Excellent value for the price paid.
If you are use to "2W" width, don't try "3W", it is wider.
