Essential Bicycle Repair ToolMay 25, 2010 To REALLY work on a bike, one needs a very solid repair stand. When it comes to solidity, one gets what one pays for. Over the years, I've learned that I can "cut corners" on some of my tools...but not my repair stands. Why? Often it takes some "cold forming" to pound a bicycle back into shape and the repair stand had better be up to the force of the hammer blows.
On the road, I use a Park PRS-15 Professional Race Stand. At home, I use a Park PRS-4W stand. I have lag-bolted the PRS-4W to a sistered pair of 2 X 4 premium pine studs that are firmly attached to one of the studs within my garage wall. When not in use, I remove the clamp portion of the stand from its base so folks don't collide with it.

BikeFeb 06, 2009 I took mine and mounted it to a pipe I had welded on a piece of steel plate like you see at bike shops and it has worked great for me when I need to clean or work on my bike

Park Wall Mount Repair ClampOct 10, 2008 An absolutely versatile bike clamp station. I have a basement workshop and decided to use a steel support post for the mounting of the bike clamp. I had a welding shop fabricate a steel back plate ($15) to which I mounted the bike clamp and then using two 4" exhaust clamps attached the back plate to the steel post. Now I can locate the bike clamp at the working level I want. I can either stand and work or sit on a stool and work depending on the location of the clamp assembly on the steel post. The quality of the repair clamp is excellent and the variable position locking has been great when I need to quickly raise or lower whichever end of the bike I'm servicing.
