Description:

Complication kills tents. Maslow notwithstanding, shelters and tents should be simple afterthoughts and quick to erect. Marmot's Limelight 2P Tent is a perfect example of this architectural brevity.  Using only three feather-light DAC poles, the Limelight allows even the least technical camper to construct this shelter in record time, especially with the help of light-reflective guide points. This includes a full coverage rain fly fashioned with seam-taped, waterproof Polyester for extra UV protection.  For gear that you don't want mucking up the inside of the tent, store it in the vestibule while items that you want to keep inside can hang out in the gear loft or one of the many pockets.  In the event of rainy nights, you won't have to worry about a flash flood as the tent floor is fully waterproof with taped seams and a catenary cut that lifts the edges off the ground for extra protection.  Gear Loft and Footprint Included DAC Press-Fit Poles - Have Press-In Inserts for Increased Durability Vestibule - For Additional Storage Bare Bones Setup - Allows the Fly to be Used by Itself with Footprint to Make a Lightweight, Sturdy Shelter Jingle-Free Nylon Zipper Pulls Promote Undisturbed Sleep Waterproof Window Weld Reduces Weight and Enhances Appearance

5Excellent tent for the moneySep 30, 2010
By JT-MO
I purchased this tent back in early spring 2010 to use for kayaking and camping along the rivers. I have to say I am impressed with this tent, and the quality of it. You get the foot print included! You get quality stakes, not those cheap bent bar type, they are aluminum hex type stakes which are light weight and strong. You also get a nice quality rain fly with windows which I know they are small but it is a nice touch to have those, sometimes you just want to look out without actually unzipping. I can look out the window to do a quick rod check to see if there is any fish on the lines for dinner without having to undo the zipper to get out and look. The setup time is fast, and it is very easy. I even set it up without directions (which are attached to the inside of the tent bag). You can actually get this tent back into the tent bag without issues unlike other tents.

I have had this tent in a couple bad thunderstorms here in Missouri and during the down pours the tent did not leak. This was the main thing I was looking for in a tent, I hate it when tents leak and this one works well in the rain. Enough room really for 2 people, but that is normal, seems like all tents run one size smaller than what they are stated for. I bought the limelight 3 knowing it would hold 2 person just fine, and 3 people if you are good friends :)
A queen size air mattress will fit perfectly in this tent with just a little room to spare (about 8 to 12 inches) at one end to put shoes and other gear. You can even put your shoes and gear in the vestibule area of the tent so you have more room in the tent. This thing is small enough to pack into my kayak, total weight of around 9LB.

Overall, really good tent for the money, good quality DAC poles, good materials, zippers, etc.. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a decent 2 person tent. Marmot got everything right on this tent!

5Smart tentMay 22, 2010
By Dick Martin
I'm not a frequent camper -- in fact my camping in recent years has been limited to a night every summer with my grandson in a nearby arboretum -- so the prospect of erecting this tent intimidated me a little. But it could not have been easier. Setting it up and taking it down is a snap and very intuitive. It literally goes up in minutes and is quite spacious. It can easily accommodate two adults and a child, or even three adults who don't mind sleeping in close quarters. The design of the tent is very intelligent and the construction is sturdy with reinforcement in all the right places. I don't have to carry it very far, but it's so light that I could imagine hiking up hills with it quite easily. YouTube has an excellent video by a guy who calls himself "Mr. Tent" -- it demonstrates how to put up the tent in minutes. Here's the link: [...]

5Comfortable and Easy AssemblyJun 15, 2010
By lady marin
I use a tent once a year when I attend a 4 day music festival. This year, I needed to buy a tent because I was unable to borrow. I did quite a bit of research and found that this one would fit all of my needs and stay within my price range.
Assembly:
This tent could not have been easier to set up. There were no tricky pole sleeves (which can rip if you are not careful) and there are only 3 poles which cuts down the confusion. The directions are pretty straightforward but did not include any information about the footprint. The footprint placement is easy enough to figure out and we had no trouble getting the tent together quickly. I don't know much about tents at all so further directions about what I should do with the roap/string would have been nice. Also included was a small metal tube which I wasn't sure about. But without using either of those items the tent was sturdy and stood well.
Size:
The tent is listed as a 3 person tent but I had only planned on using it for two and having extra space for storage. I wouldn't imagine that 3 people would sleep comfortably in this tent - two was plenty. We inflated a queen size air mattress which fit perfectly inside (though there was no room for anything else). We ended up using the car for storing our gear, but it would have been nice to keep some of it in the tent.
Comfort:
My main concern with buying a tent was the water resistance. I have always had problems with dew and moisture getting into the tent from the ground. Well, the footprint solved all of these problems and kept everything nice and dry. We did get a little bit of rain and the tent did well with keeping that out too.
Because we were camping in a field and not under trees it did get very hot in the tent (especially with the rain fly. There was not much air circulation so battery operated fans were helpful.
Accessibility:
Getting in and out of the tent was easy, especially with doors on either side. The "vestibule" was a nice place to keep muddy shoes. Mostly, I feel that the vestibule just gave us extra rain protection - keeping the water further from the entrance to the tent. I wasn't familiar with what a vestibule was before getting this tent - so do not get the impression that you could store gear here unless you were okay with it getting damp.
I think that this tent is a great buy!

5new camperJun 02, 2010
By T. Chin
I'm writing this review on behalf of my best friend. I have the same tent as her but I haven't gotten the chance to use it - she has.

She needed a new one as her old one had holes (after using it for over 20 years, I believe). She brought it to camp on some off road place near Nederland, CO. She loved it and is thrilled that she got it. The structure of the tent is great, you could sit up and not be crowded by the curve of it. The included footprint is brilliant, it was what convinced us to get it. Some people may say that this tent is better for two people but I think three people would work just fine. It's just that people require more space and I think the Marmot Limelight has just enough space for 3 people.

I am going to be camping and using it tomorrow and I'm excited!

5Another great product from Marmot!Apr 27, 2009
By E. Bishop "Wiretap Studios dot com"
This is another great product from Marmot. This is a 3 person, but is really better for a roomy 2 person or 2 person and a child, etc. Great ventilation, seam sealed, quick snapping pole clips make setting up and breaking down a snap. This also comes with a gear loft and a footprint. You can't find a better tent in this price range. I see that it is not available on here right now but you can find it through their website or at any major retailer. I found a great price on mine, below 200. There really are too many great things to list about this tent, so check it out at Marmots website, they have a video of it as well.
