I cannot tell you how much time other people spend sitting, but I do know that I spend most of my day sitting. It may be on an airplane flying twenty plus hours to a work related location, or it may be behind my desk on my computer for hours at a time. Even in my own home sitting with my wife watching TV my back always aches.
Just a few weeks ago, we were visiting family and my brother-in-law showed me his Therm-a-rest lumbar support pillow. He used it as we were driving about five hours to visit another family member in upstate New York and while I was agonizing in the back seat, he drove without a problem because of the Therm-a-rest pillow.
I had used Therm-a-rest pads while camping in the past and found them to be a great solution for sleeping on hard ground. They rolled up to be very easy to carry gear, and quite durable as well. I've had my two pads for sleeping bag use for about thirty years and they are still in great shape. I did not know about the lumbar pillow made by Therm-a-rest and so for a long time have tried to find a solution that was compact for travel and yet functional for actual support. Seeing my brother-in-law's comfort on the trip, I ordered the lumbar pillow while I was in New York state, and had it shipped to my brother-in-law's home so I could use it on the flight back to Atlanta. All I can say is Ahhhhhhhh! The flight home was comfortable, and every day since has been too.
My Therm-a-rest lumbar pillow goes with me everywhere and makes what was once pain filled days much more bearable with back support that is adjustable to whatever the need is at the time. The reputation that Therm-a-rest has with me at least is great, lasting for decades of use, which means I'm expecting a long and wonderful time of relief from back pain with my lumbar pillow. I use it at home, on the road while driving, in the air when flying, it is my compact, and convenient self inflating traveling companion. I love it, and totally recommend it without reservation to fellow back pain sufferers like me. Thanks Therm-a-rest!

I received this as a gift from my Amazon wish list 2 years ago and wouldn't travel without it. It makes long plane rides much more comfortable by providing just the right amount of lumbar support. I previously would try and use one of the little pillows provided by the airlines but it would always slip out of place. Recently I have begun using it in the car and can't believe I didn't think of this before. This is a quality item and I recommend this if you need extra lumbar support.

I was a bit skeptical before buying this -- it's an inflatable cushion and I wondered if it would be durable enough for more than one airplane trip. It works well -- the outer covering is very durable. And it really does "self-inflate", simply by opening the valve. To wrap it up to tuck in your travel bag, you open the valve and roll it up, then close the valve to keep air from getting back into it. It stores pretty small (not invisibly small, but pretty small). When you want to use it again, you open the valve and in about 20 seconds the pillow expands to its original shape, all by itself. Brilliant!

I bought this product for my wife who has been going through issues with her back for a while. She is now focused on correcting her posture all the time and got this pillow to help her while she drives in her car. Her car rides had always been s source of discomfort for her back but as soon as she put this pillow in the car she started talking about how much she is excited to drive now.
So far this product has been great for her and I've owned many great Thermarest products in the past so I am confident it is made with quality.
