Lafuma - wonderful discovery!Nov 21, 2008
By K. Jones I discovered the Lafuma brand in Forks, WA. My busy self forgot to update my too-small trail shoes before visiting Yosemite. My sneakers just did not cut it. A week later in Forks, WA, waiting for my kayak tour, I discovered these shoes in the Peak 6 Adventure store. The twin lacing system is a godsend: it lets you adjust the toe box independently of the rest of the lacing. So my narrow feet can have a snug lace around the foot, while my toes have plenty of room to spread.
The support is great, too, especially for my arches, which tire quickly. The shoe is stiff, but not unbendable. It pads and cups my ankle, providing more support than a sneaker, but less than a full-fledged hiking boot. And it's waterproof. It's my go-to shoe now for everything from long days on my feet in the city or rain on the way to work to rigorous day-long hikes outdoors. I'm online now trying to find a second pair before Lafuma changes their line. (I inevitably look to replace an item just after it's been discontinued or "updated" in some way that I dislike.)
Good job, Lafuma! You'll be on my radar for a long time.
Gloved feetJan 24, 2009
By Marigold Reynolds Wearing these shoes is akin to wearing gloves on one's feet--once you get them on. The lacing system does not permit you to loosen the ankle area where your feet must go in, so you end up having to hold onto the back of the shoe (with your thumb inside the shoe), while simultaneously forcing your foot into the shoe. The result is that you are squeezing your poor thumb during this procedure as your heel slips into the shoe. Rather than torture your thumb everytime you have to put these shoes on and even risk breaking your thumb nail, get a single SHOE HORN. If you don't know what that is, go to your nearest shoe repair shop and ask them to show one to you (and sell one to you or at least tell you where to purchase one). Also ask the shoe repair person to show you how to use it. A shoe horn will likely cost under $10. And it is worth that small investment since all members of the household can use it. The shoe horn is extremely useful with shoes like these. By the way, these shoes are a little close fitting, so you might prefer going a half size larger.
Awesome Product!Jan 21, 2009
By A. Fink I was a little uncertain when I first purchased these because I wasn't thrilled with the color but they are such a great buy. They are very comfortable & completely waterproof. I stepped in a huge puddle & my feet stayed dry. I've started wearing them instead of my snow boots as well since they have great traction & keep my feet dryer. I did buy them a half size larger than I normally wear so that I can wear thicker socks while hiking. They are true to size & I wear them all the time now.

I love the shoes, but I may take out the stretchy lace setup and replace with real laces. They are drawstring type laces and then they tuck under a flap, but don't always stay there. The "drawing" directions were less than helpful. Other than that, they have firm support for my tired old feet and fit like a glove. I ordered 7.5 (when I usually wear a 7) because I tend to need extra width, and they fit perfect. Very comfortable, all day, hiking shoes. I live in Hawaii and walk across dry lava beds from time to time, and these have the ventilation I need as well.
