Huffy's quality disappointsSep 07, 2007
By P. Lichtenstein My new Huffy bicycle is a real disappointment:
1. Its received condition was not good. I had to adjust and regrease all the bearings - some were too loose, some to tight, some had insufficient grease, one had grit (sand?) in bearing.
2. I had to retrue both front and rear wheels by adjusting spokes, some of which weren't tightened in the first place.
3. The front wheel innertube failed (went flat overnight) and could not be repaired, on only the day after receiving the bike! The OEM innertubes are very poor quality in my opinion.
4. After only a couple of weeks of mild riding (I'm a 62 year old "kid"), the pedal crank has developed a clicking sound every revolution that I fear might be a broken bearing. I'll have to disassemble the crank for the second time to fix it.
5. The front fork is misaligned, so the bike pulls to the left all the time - another disassembly and repair (bending) job, albeit not an easy one without an aligning fixture.
Huffy bikes used to be of pretty decent quality, but these coming out of China now are almost junk. I'm really disappointed in Huffy - once a trusted quality bike. Alas, no more.
P.S. - My wife has a similar women's Huffy bike (about a year old) with much the same problems I'm having with mine. Guess I've learned my lesson now, after having purchased two pretty much "lemonny" bikes!

This is a fun bikeJan 25, 2009
By A. E. Pope The past reviews I've seen are all about how the delivery company damaged the bike. That has absolutely nothing to do with the bike itself! So I'm sorry that your bike was damaged but why don't we try to concentrate on the bike instead of the delivery companies that failed to accomplish their objective. I have purchased this bike and while heavy to some degree it is a good bike. There are better beach cruisers but you might exoect to pay another Franklin for one. It's Chinese made but its a good bike overall.

A great value for this price rangeJul 16, 2008

Styled after the balloon tire bicycles of the 1940's up to the 1960's, this bicycle is like a vision from the past. The only thing it doesn't bring up from those good old days is the materials and craftsmanship. The metal is thinner, and the welds aren't great. The wheels are excellent aluminum alloy, but with cheap steel spokes that bend without too much pressure applied to them. The fenders, frame and chainguard are the same design as the classic American bikes of pre-WWI and later. The handlebars are perfect, but again, of thinner metal than you'd see in an original. New materials such as the rubber grips are the things that have improved...they are the most comfortable and provide tremendous grip without much effort. The pedals are mostly plastic with rubber surfaces. I quickly upgraded to the aluminum bear-trap pedals. This bike is a perfect candidate for component upgrades as you go along.
For the beach and slow-cruising around town, it does its job perfectly and is made just for that kind of riding. Don't expect it to be a fast, hard-riding, off-road bicycle. It isn't made for that. Because it is such a bargain (eighty-nine dollars and 67 cents at Walmart), its extremely good looks and its ability to perform its intended duty, I give it a 5 out of 5.

Nice bike, but arrived damaged.Aug 06, 2008
By MykeTV The bicycle itself looks gorgeous, however it arrived with some damage. The foam handle bar grip was torn and the front wheel bracket was bent and misshapen. I can't assemble it because of the bent bracket, so I am in the middle of contacting the seller about what my options are. I was hoping to start use the bike right away and am very disappointed.

Damaged from shipping!Aug 25, 2009
By Jeff Lee I will admit that after reading other reviews here that I was expecting some damage from shipping when I bought this bike. But the low price persuaded me anyways.
Yup, my bike was damaged as well. It was packaged in a single layer, simple cardboard box. No padding whatsoever. The bolts from one of the wheels had torn through the cardboard. Through this hole--I assume--several of the assembly pieces had fallen because there was no bolt and nut to attach the front fender. Also the back fender had a large dent in it and the paint was scratched in several places.
The bike itself is okay. It is a little clunky and not terribly fast or easy to ride. But for my just-around-town needs, it should be fine... once I find a replacement bolt.
Buyer beware!
