Nearly Perfect!Dec 10, 2010
By H. Schafer My son needed a new backpack this year, and had one requirement: black. I showed him the picture on Amazon and he gave me an enthusiastic thumbs up. This is a great little backpack. It is big enough to hold school supplies (notebook, folder, lunchbox, library books and balled up sweatshirt), with a side pouch for a water bottle, and a little pocket on the strap that could be used to hold a small phone or iPod for an older child...yet this pack is compact and sleek enough not to be bulky on his 2nd grade frame. The straps are cut narrower without feeling flimsy, and padded. The middle compartment has pencil holders and small interior organizing pockets. His previous pack didn't last 4 months until I had to put patches in the bottom. So far, no big holes, but a the material is starting to wear thin in one spot. I wish the bottoms of these packs were reinforced, which is why I don't LOVE it. Kids are growing up so fast these days, and this pack is more grown-up looking without being too "adult" yet small and light enough for a younger child. My son absolutely loves it.
Great backpack Made in the USAMay 22, 2012
By ga peach mom I bought this for my 5th grader. I was under a challenge to find a Made in the USA product as good as the L.L. Bean backpack my daughter had to have. He has used it since the beginning of the school year. It made it's final run last week. It finished the year without a tear, no holes and zippers in tact. It actually looks pretty darn good. He carried a 2in stuffed binder, two text books and three note books every day. he is not one to stuff his jacket in. Maybe that is why our zippers lasted the year. It did carry the heavy daily load just fine. The organization pockets were well thought out. Nice backpack High Sierra!!
nice for the priceApr 26, 2012
By julybride I bought this to use for hiking and occasional schooling. It works fine. I thought the material will be thinner for such a low price, but I think it's medium. Not a very high quality material, but better than what I had expected for under $20. The side net pocket can hold a water bottle which is very convenient for hiking and school. For this low price, I'm happy with the product.
