I have owned a genji pop-up beach tent for a while, and so far, it has worked wonderfully. Wanting something that could also be used for trips to the park or camping, I recently purchased this outdoor tent because it can be zipped up both in the front and back. My husband and I used it recently on our vacation and it worked great! My kids loved it, and I had an excellent afternoon nap on the beach. The way the tent zips up completely is an added convenience. It works great as a changing station. It also helps keep the bugs out of our food when we have picnics at the park!

"Keep it HUGE"
We live in Hawaii, and have used this on the beach every week for the past 2 months (and the sunshelter weekly for 3 months before that), with no construction complaints. Umbrellas have no hope of staying on the ground where we go, and a tent offered some extra privacy for our toddler's diaper changes. Our first tent was the Genji beach sunshelter, which is simply this tent with a zipper door on only one side (one side is always open). I was so happy with that tent, that I "upgraded" to this tent so I could close up for passing rain with no flood problems.
When buying these tents, my biggest concern was that it would take off in the wind. But, I have found that once the sand pockets are filled up (yellow in the picture), it isn't going to go anywhere - even in winds when the kite surfers are out.
It takes a minute to put up (including time to fill up the pockets), and about 3 to fold down (once you study Mrs. Genji's on-line video). I rarely use the stakes/string. If I do, it will usually only be one stake into the direction of the wind to support the frame. I strongly recommend practicing beforehand to avoid becoming a show on the beach. Tip: when it is closed properly, it should not want to pop up; if you need to hold it down, try again grasshopper... Once you can do it well, you will be ready to take on the challenge of a windy beach!

This tent seemed great the first time we used it. Poped up easily and folded down nice. The second time we used it the zipper broke on the carry bag. The third time we used it the tent started ripping along the supports in 2 places. The zippers on the tent seem like they will break soon too. I was very disappointed in the cheap material used for this tent. It ended up costing $70 with shipping to be used 3 times. We may get one more use out of this tent before it needs thrown away. It was a great idea and my 5 month old, 2 yr old, and 4 yr old seem to enjoy it but very poorly made.

I took this tent on a recent trip to Kauai with my 7 month old son and am very happy with the decision. It protected us from the sun so we could stay on the beach longer and when it rained (which it did quite a bit), I was happy to be under shelter. I was glad that all sides zipped because it poured on us once while performing an emergency diaper change. I quickly zipped up all the sides and it protected us and our gear from the rain. The beaches can be very windy in Kauai but I had no problems with the tent once I filled up the yellow pockets with sand. Originally I purchased the push up tent but returned it because I found it difficult to open and close. I found this pop up tent very easy to fold down once you get the hang of it and of course, effortless to open. My only (minor) complaints are the ties to fold back the openings--you have to tie it into a knot which makes it harder to undo--what about using velcro? Also, a lighter color to reflect the sun would be nice. Oh, and it fits into a large suitcase but I wish it folded up just a little smaller. Overall, I love the tent. One of my best purchases for our beach vacation.

Love this tent! I bought it for the beach, I am a single mama with four kids. I can put this tent up with one hand ~ while holding a 6 month old baby :) It folds back up with great ease and if you have an issue, there are directions on the tag to show you how to fold it up! Very nice size. Plenty big for all 4 of my kids. Very light, walking far is no problem. I would definitly recomend this tent. Price is right too!
