5good buy for the priceJul 12, 2011
By Clay
i have been looking for a pop up tent for a while now, and this was a good buy for the price. i wish i could have afforded the quechua pop up tent, but this one seems like good competition. it was not the one in the picture, but it has the door and screen. the plus side was that the tent fabric was the nylon, and the floor area is a tarp like material, very durable and can see it lasting a long time. i'm going to be camping with it in new braunfels at the end of the month so if it doesn't hold up, i will be editing this post.

5Quick and easy!Oct 03, 2011

What this tent is: inexpensive
What this tent is not: expensive

That being said, this is a 5-star, inexpensive pop-up tent.

My husband and I used this tent to camp in Zion National Park this last weekend. I had planned for this tent to, hopefully, sleep four since the description says "Spacey Enough For A Family". My 3 year-old ended up sleeping in her Aunt's tent and my Husband slept in the car. The problem was he is 6'6" and our 6 month-old likes to sleep horizontally. So, this is a two-man tent, no "family size" about it. The two of us could have very comfortably slept in this tent w/o the kids. It would be quite spacious for one person.

Set up is a breeze, it literally "pops-up".

The material is thin, I could see my 3 year-old playing around the camp right through the walls (no problems w/others seeing in through the walls). However, it held up to very gusty winds with only the 4 ground stakes, we didn't take the time to attach four anchor strings that attach to the top supports. It did get very hot in the direct sun (note the blanket over the back end in the photo I uploaded). It would be nice if there were another mesh panel beside the door for better ventilation.

The bottom is a tarp material, seems durable enough.

I cannot attest to the degree to which it handles rain, though I wouldn't be surprised if it was somewhat water resistant.

Both girls just love to play in the tent. My 3 year-old thinks it just great and loves going in and out. I like to zip my 6-month-old in to play, while keeping her out of things, while I'm doing chores. My 3 year-old can go in and out and play with the baby too. This tent will be great for a backyard camp out.

Inexpensive, Highly Portable, Quick Set-Up, Sleeps 2 comfortably.

1NOT WATERPROOF!Nov 09, 2011
By Joseph D. Mccraw "Mediatedthought"
This tent is really cheaply made from flimsy materials. It did not last the 2 nights I needed it to function and was a terrible experience. I woke up in the middle of the 2nd night totally drenched with the tent collapsing on me.
Do not buy if you expect to ever encounter weather.
The title is very misleading: "GSI Quality Waterproof Camping Tent, Closed Sun Shelter, With Steel Wire Frame And Carrying Case - For Camping, Hiking, Picnics And All Outdoor Activities"
The frame is not steel, and the tent is not waterproof. It's best suited as a sun shelter, but will break after even the most delicate treatment.

3Cheap, but hey, it's cheap.Sep 14, 2011

I knew it was cheap and I bought it anyway. Made in China, cheap zipper that arrived damaged before I had a chance to break it, and arrived with a small hole in the side of the "tent." No WAY this thing is remotely waterproof or even resistant -- I wouldn't want to be in this in a light mist. Very thin fabric that is not densely woven, and cannot have much, if any, waterproofing on it. I think a can of Scotchguard would probably be more than this tent has seen. Stakes are the cheapest of the many sets of cheap stakes I have seen over the years of buying cheap tents. But if you were in this thing, it is so low profile that you wouldn't need a lot of staking to hold it down. It is truly cheap, and not a good value kind of cheap. That being said, if you had nice weather and arrived somewhere in the dark, or wanted to be minimalist for a short stopover, this might be okay. Or if you want something for your kids to play in in the yard. I think I've probably wasted $30 on it, but I wanted to see what it was like. And I was able to fold it up on my second and third attempts. So it does work and it kind of is a tent, it's just really cheap. Maybe with a tarp set up over it....

2Don't expect it to fit in caseFeb 29, 2012
By Erin
Immediately after I recieved this tent I took it out of its case. It looked like a good quality tent for the price and was satisfied. However as I followed the instruction (poor quality instructions)on how to twist it back down to size two pools snapped. I thought it would be similar to twisting down the window shades you use in your vehicle and the instrucstions sounded the same. I did exactly what the instructions said and it broke. I even had someone else read the instructions and look at the tent and they aggreed I did what was instructed. I am highly dissapointed with this product, I didn't even get to use it camping.
