5Fantastic value for those thinking of using FIR therapy!Mar 05, 2010
By Christopher Cerrudo
Did a little research on FIR saunas, and wanted to try one without investing too much money into it. This came in at a great price, and I had little to lose by buying it.

There are 3 heat panels inside the device, one which is electric powered (back panel), and two that are heat absorbing/radiating on either side of the device.

The instructions are english translated directly from their original language, which can lead to some interesting combinations of words. Roughly, the controls are this - Power button that turns the device on or off. Temp button, which changes the levels of power from 1 to 6. Time button, which increments the timer from 5 min to 40 min in 5 min increments. At first look, you can get shocked at the readout, thinking that is the temperature (340 degrees??) but when broken down into 2 parts (level 3 temp for 40 min) it makes sense.

The small folding chair inside can get warm, I would suggest a small wooden stool as a replacement. Also one of the wood dowels that provide support for the shape was a little shorter than the other one, but it was a minor quibble.

The sauna can get quite hot at temps 5 and 6, and recommend that only for short periods of time (15 or 20 min). Be warned that the metal zippers can get warm - make sure you have a towel that you can use to hold onto the zippers or you may be stuck in there until they cool down.

I have been using it at 4 for 30 min, and find it quite comfortable. I might invest in one of the bigger 2 person units later on, but until then this will do the trick!

5Great IR Heater!May 28, 2010
By kerry roman
My husband and I just purchased this for two totally differant reasons: He is using it to help heat train for a race in the desert and I use it to help relieve my psoriatic arthritis. This works great for both.

To begin, let me say THIS IS NOT A STEAM SAUNA! This is an infrared sauna. The rays are emmited by three lamps mounted in the "tent" and absorbed into the body and sweat is released. It does get very hot in the tent. Make sure you are really well hydrated when you start this. The heat range goes from 50 degrees F to 140 degrees F (approx.). I found that to be a comfortable range for me. I think it cycles on in off, so I started on a lower setting, and when I felt it was getting too cool, would tweek it up. The controls are very easy to use.

I liked the design of the product very much. It is really easy to use. It folds up into a rectangle about the size of two pizza boxes put side to side, so if you live in a shoebox like we do, this is the sauna for you. The zipper does stick a little, but just make sure you hold the two sides together when you zip it up and go kinda slow. We haven't had a problem with it yet. It does come with a metal folding chair that is a bit uncomfortable (not to mention, made of metal) and we have opted to use our own chair. There is a hole for your head, and two for arms, which is nice. If you want the whole heat experience, sit on the floor and put a hand towel over the hole. The control panel is like a TV remote. You can set heat levels by number and time by preset minutes. The plastic tent does stink a bit when you first us it, but it goes away eventually, especially if you can air it out. We sweat a lot, so we put towels on the bottom of the tent as well.

We have used this daily for over 2 weeks and not had and problems with it. We were going to get a gym membership just to use a dry sauna, but for the price, this is sooo much better! It is very relaxing.

5Great product at a great priceMay 05, 2010
By R. Betteridge
I bought this product because of the many benefits of far infrared therapy. Very easy to set up (unfold it and put the sticks up in front to keep it expanded). I was surprised to see the puddle of sweat at my feet after a 30 min session. It left my skin feeling very soft and smooth. The 4 setting was comfortable, the 5 a little hot, but bearable. After a cold shower I felt great and slept well. These same units are selling for $300+ on ebay and cost $30 to $40 per 30 min session at local spas so this unit has already paid for itself. I highly recommend it to everyone who wants to experience a good nights sleep, soft skin and all the other health benefits this therapy brings.

4Works very wellMay 25, 2010
By K. C. Ielmini
I bought this item to help with my arthritis and fibromyalgia as I had heard infrared heat may help alleviate some of my symptoms. I use this product everyday and have found that, while not curing me, has made me feel better. The "sauna" gets very hot after a few minutes, it will cycle on and off as it thinks it has reached temperature, but the box stays fairly warm. As far as the design, it is a bit awkward. The chair is small (I am 5'6"/120 lbs) for me and uncomfortable. I put a large, cushioned towel on it and it makes it much more comfortable. You are very near the heaters while in the "box" but they are not warm enough to burn you because of the way the heat works so it is nice to have them so close. The instructions that come with the item were translated by someone from China who is not very fluent in english so they are of no help at all in setup, luckily it is really easy. The item is fairly small (about the size of a large suitcase, but very skinny) when broken down and it comes in a case so you can take it with you. It is not great quality and I know it will not last long, but for the money, I think it a great deal. It helped me know whether or not I wanted to spend more money for a larger, cedar sauna.

5Great little saunaOct 07, 2010
By Nikki Zuko "Vipergirl"
Received the sauna yesterday. Opened the box and was expecting to do more assembling based on other reviews of saunas and videos on youtube.

No assembling at all! I just zipped it up on the 3 sides in the back, slapped the chair in, pressed the power button. Set it at 130 and within 10-15 mins, sweat was pouring profusely. 130 isn't even that hot, I felt very comfortable (although I did just go for a run before that, maybe that helps with sweating?).

The zippers didn't get too hot to handle, nor did the chair. I'm smaller (5'2) so I found the holes were a little too far apart to read comfortably. So I just sat in front of the TV for 40 mins and it was awesome!!!

The chair is pretty uncomfortable but then in a wooden sauna, I'm pretty darn uncomfortable too.

I recommend this product.
