I bought this footprint at the same time I got the Eureka Scenic Pass 3xt tent. The reason is very simple. You need this in order to take your tent camping anywhere and protect it from the roughness of the trail floors. It is amazing how the fabric of this footprint can protect you and your tent form scratching, stretching or even breaking. It's thin and could perfectly go inside the same tent pack.
Helps to keep your tent floor from roots, rocks and other threats to the integrity of your brand new tent.
It is also water proof!!! Just remember to extend the tent's rainfly properly so your keep dry even during pouring rain

This item, when used in conjunction with the PROPER tent, provides some added protection from scuffs, accidental abrasions or punctures of the Eureka Scenic Pass 3XT (3 person) tent floor. A local salesman sold me the WRONG one just before our trip, and being sold out of the RIGHT one we jumped on Amazon and selected priority shipping, got it THE DAY BEFORE we left for Lana'i!
Here are the product features and benefits as we experienced them, camping at Hulupo'e Beach Park on Lana'i:
- Repels ground moisture and prevents it from soaking thru the floor
- Adds protection from poking branches, and a little (just a LITTLE) cushioning from small rocks, twigs
- Very lightweight, can roll up with the tent and still fit in the tent's carry bag.
- Much lighter than a tarp, the pack weight is nearly negligible.
- Durable even for its light weight, made from almost rip-stop material (not quite)
If there is a drawback, it would be that the picture is NOT representative of the actual item, AND on very hot days, moisture can collect between the footprint and the tent floor. Just shake it out and it dries in minutes in direct sunlight. Not really a problem.
In very heavy rain, it will collect water. Nothing will prevent this, not even a tarp.
