2Very poor construction & flimsy, but affordable.Dec 03, 2009
By C. Garcia "Mommy2One"
We purchased this tent at Sam's Club and were very disappointed. We paid way more than what Kohl's is selling them for online.

It is very easy to assemble, and I was finished in about 5 minutes. However, the plastic poles snapped twice within the first 24 hours of play. I duct taped them together and stuck a pair of bamboo knitting needles inside each break to give the poles stability. All of this within 24 hours of getting it out of the box and set up.

My child LOVES it. He doesn't care about the quality. He loves that he has his own indoor clubhouse and it's perfect for the winter months when it is just too cold to take him out to the park to play. He will stay inside of the tent for up to four hours, and insists I take his meals to the tent. The hours of uninterrupted 'me time' this tent gives me is priceless.

But, if you are looking for quality...look elsewhere. If you are looking to keep your child busy on the cheap and don't mind doing a MacGyver on this tent to keep it going...then, THIS IS YOUR TENT.

1DO NOT BUY!Nov 05, 2010
By Ryan
I don't normally review products, but this is such a horrible product that I felt others needed to know. We have twin 1 year old girls and received this tent as a gift for their birthday. We were very excited as we were sure they would love the tent and the tunnel. The tent did not survive setting it up the first time. The poles kinked in half. We are very disappointed in the quality of this product. I would not buy any products by Discovery Kids!

I called the support line on the instructions to see if they could send us a replacement pole for the one that broke. The only way to get replacement parts is to box all the parts up and ship them back and they will send you a replacement. This of course will cost as much or more than simply purchasing a new tent.

This is by far the worst kids product we have owned as far as quality. The support policies of MerchSource (the company that distributes the product) are very disappointing.

We did receive another tent for their birthday which they love and has held up wonderfully. It is the Pacific Play Tents One Touch Tent-Primay Colored No.20310. Don't Waste your time on the Discovery Kids Product! The Pacific Play One Touch Tent folds up into a small bag and has metal poles. It has been a wonderful product to use.

Hopefully this review helps someone else and prevents everyone from buying the inferior products being distributed by Discovery Kids and MerchSource!

3A Decent Fix for the Broken PolesFeb 16, 2011
By Roger Mullins
We gave this tent to our two-year-old daughter as a Valentine's Day present. Like, well, pretty much everyone else who's reviewed the product, I managed to kink one of the poles about two minutes into the setup process. The pole didn't break completely, but it was bent and was probably going to break with much use. Plus, the lame pole meant the tent didn't quite keep its shape, either. It was time to improvise.

The perfect fix if you're in this predicament: cheap Bic ballpoint pins. Not the type that screw together and not the clicky kind, but the 'Stic' variety like these: http://www.amazon.com/BIC-Round-Medium-Point-GSM609-Blk/dp/B0012YVGOW/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1297835456&sr=8-9. I pulled the tip off of the barrel of the pen (had to use my teeth), and then took out the actual pen part so all I had left was the barrel. It's the exact size to slide down inside the tent pole (I used a second pen to push it down inside the pole to the buckled part), and it's still flexible enough to let the pole bend somewhat.

Obviously, this review is geared more toward people who have the tent (and broken pole(s)) and need to fix it. If you're contemplating buying this product, you might be better advised to check out some of the other similar products here that have more positive reviews. Either that, or go ahead and pick up a box of pens while you're at it!

1Cheap & disappointingNov 29, 2009
By indymom "indymom"
This product was a huge disappointment for our family. Both poles broke within 5 hours of setting it up for my eager 2 year old. I've looked everywhere for quality replacements, but have not found any that are small enough to fit. You'd be much better off buying a slightly bigger, better quality tent.

1One star implies that I liked this thing more than I did.Dec 03, 2011
By PattyCakes
I suspect that the 5 star ratings for this product were given by employees of Discovery Kids.

While assembling this tent the poles broke. After assembling it anyway, my son climbed in it and the poles broke. After getting him out of it so I could find out what went wrong, my central heating kicked in and the gently breeze coming from the vent in the ceiling blew across the top of the tent and the poles broke.

Okay, I made up that last one.

The manufacturer is also very unhelpful.

Stay very far away from this product. Not only is it junk, but I suspect that the broken poles are potentially dangerous for your child.
