Blister FreeApr 09, 2010
By C. Smith My husband is in the Army and constantly struggles with athletes foot and blisters from hyper-hydrosis (extreme foot sweating). He sometimes gets blisters just from everyday walking around in his combat boots, and always gets blisters every time he runs in the mornings. Yesterday he trained on land-navigation over difficult terrain in the pouring rain. He came home soaking wet and excited about how these socks kept his feet warm in the wet morning and cool when the sun came out from behind the clouds. Most of all he was excited because he had no blisters!

A perfect compliment for any bootAug 27, 2008
By T. Handley These are by far the most comfortable hiking socks I've ever owned. They don't hold moisture or cause blisters like cotton, don't overheat in warmer weather, and stay perfectly warm in cooler weather, even when wet or dirty. The fit is excellent (how many socks are available in 5 distinct sizes?), and so far they have never bunched up or slid down my calf while hiking. After trekking in the same pair for several days (allowing them to air out overnight) they don't seem to hold any odor and stay soft -- not at all "crusty" in the morning. These have been up and down Mt. Adams with me and on numerous shorter hikes, with seemingly no change in fit or quality after many washes. I'm not sure if it's really necessary, but I've always allowed them to air dry.

Smarter than Smart Wool???Jan 04, 2011
By FoolAmI I was Darn tired of freezing my feet off in my cold cement floor shop every winter so I finally splurged on a good pair of workboots and decided that good boots deserved great socks so I ordered 2 pairs of Darn Tough socks. Wore them 7 days a week for 2 weeks washing them every other day with little or no odor. Saw a little pilling after the 1st wash (tumble dry low heat with no shrinkage) but the pilling never got any worse (been wearing them most days for a month now). I do wish they were a little higher on the calf. With the lifetime guarentee the Darn Tough socks will last assuming you are willing to send them back for any needed repairs sometime in the distant future but since I'm a lazy soul who will never send worn out socks back for replacement these socks seem great with this limited testing time (a month).
Update, Well I've had these socks for a full year now and they get better with age. For 6 months (cooler months) I've worn these socks every day, 2 days worn and then grab the 2nd pair I ordered last year. Machine wash cold, dry on medium with my normal laundry and they still fit great, even better after a few washings. I wear them outside without shoes on the cement driveway (even on wet days) to get my mail ect., they seem to dry within a minute of getting back to the house. Walk on the grass in them taking the garbage out... and they barely show any signs of wear and the drying on medium heat with my jeans ect doesn't seem to make them shrink... what more can you ask for so... I ordered 11 pairs for my family (and 2 extra pairs myself) for Christmas presents (got a different color for the women) and thus far everybody (even my Mother) likes them. I intend to try some of their CoolMax socks for summer wear. expensive??? yep, until you've worn a pair for a few weeks and then the value really shows.

Great sock. Watch large/extra-large sizingNov 27, 2010
By John C. Lin I am a big fan of Darn Tough socks and find myself wearing them every chance I have. They do fit snugly, giving a lot of support, and some models with less merino and more Coolmax seem to shrink just a tad, I have found. With that in mind, I sized up to an extra-large in this boot sock and find that the sock is a little long. I wear an 11.5 to 12 D shoe, and the sizing chart puts me at the top end of L or into the 12+ designation for XL. The XL is too big -- a little too long (heal rides up the back, and too roomy in the forefoot and toe areas). Comfy and nice, but not a secure fit for ski boots, wading boots, or any technical applications where you might want a snug fit. They will be fine for knocking around in looser fitting snow boots. As with all Darn Tough socks, they are extremely well made a durable.
