Good for BackpackingJun 28, 2011
By dcn8v Just your basic trowel. Lightweight, and easy to pack. Serrations help when you're digging in soil with roots or other tough materials. It's held up well for me, but I don't use it for jobs it wasn't intended to do. It's a staple in my pack when I hit the trails now.

Becomes invisible on the forest floorJun 17, 2011
By tbrochny It's a fine sturdy little shovel - would probably last forever - and it has nice serrations on the edge to aid in excavating tough ground. However, mine was made of a translucent green plastic which, when dropped on the forest floor, renders it nearly invisible. Dang!

A Must Have For Backpacking or Rugged CampingSep 22, 2011
By Amazon Addict This trowel is a must-have any backpacking or rugged camping trip without toilets. Two huge advantages to this trowel:
1. It weighs only 3 ounces, yet is very durable. It's very lightweight, but still incredibly strong. I don't see a need to carry a heavier metal trowel. This plastic trowel is very strong and has served me well for years.
2. It has a ruler built-in to the trowel, so you can accurately measure if you have dug a 6" hole. (6" is the common legal requirement for digging a hole to poop in) Why guess if you have dug 6"? This trowel will tell you.

Beats a hiking pole.Jun 13, 2011
By J. Quyen Arana Light and sturdy. Sure beats digging a hole any other way and lets you get closer to the magic 6".

By Richard Secoy Very durable and leightweight. The cross section handle holds up to a lot of prying and cutting, and only bends a little bit. I really like this trowel, and plan to use it for many years to come.
